Paradise Tours is one of the original tour providers in this area, dating back to a time when it was still a hidden gem known mainly to locals and a few lucky travelers.

We have always loved discovering new spots in the wild and venturing off the beaten path. More than a decade ago, we decided to turn that passion into a profession, sharing our favorite places with travelers looking for something less touristy, more adventurous, and truly authentic.

The original owner, Chris, moved to Puerto Rico from Europe to experience the incredible nature the island has to offer. He spent more than a decade exploring every corner of the island, discovering hidden gems and places worth sharing with others.

Although we offer several different tours across Puerto Rico, the natural waterslide has always held a special place in Chris’s heart. His passion for this unique location and his desire to share its beauty with others are what made this adventure so meaningful from the very beginning.

Before the devastating super typhoon hit Puerto Rico, there were fewer than a handful of guides taking guests up the river. Back then, the area was much more off the beaten path than it is today, and both the old and new conditions had their advantages and disadvantages.

In the past, muddy trails were a big part of the experience. Today, the trails are better maintained, making it easier for younger and older guests alike to enjoy the natural pools while further reducing the risk of injuries.

Speaking of safety, in our more than 10 years of offering tours here, we have recorded just three minor injuries among the thousands of guests who have joined us.

This is one of the main reasons to choose us over potentially cheaper providers. Experience, proper safety standards, and responsible guiding make a difference. After all, you get what you pay for, and especially when bringing your family and children, safety should always be the number one priority.

When we first started guiding tours to the waterslide in the rainforest, it was nothing more than a hidden gem where friends and families would spend their weekends.

After Hurricane Maria devastated the island in 2017, Chris was among the very few people who worked to clear the way back up the river. Armed with a chainsaw, he helped remove fallen trees, clear the trails, and remove blockages from the river to make the area accessible again.

Unfortunately, while the official tourist areas of El Yunque remained closed for an extended period, some of the larger tour operators learned about our location and began bringing a larger number of tourists to what had once been a quiet, hidden spot.

Although this area has become busier over the years, we remain committed to the principles that have guided us from the beginning. While others have followed our lead and copy our tours, we continue to focus on smaller groups, high safety standards, and personal experiences. All our guides are locals who share a genuine love for nature and the outdoors.

In 2026, we began working with other guides from the island who share our passion and vision: preserving nature and sharing its beauty with adventurous travelers.
